WHY UPDATE?
If you haven’t upgraded your Pantone Guides and books for several years, your colors are no longer meeting full market demand, nor are they reliably accurate.
Colors fade and yellow in 12-18 months, which means Guides and Chip Books need to be replaced to ensure consistency. To learn more, please read about why updating your guide will save you valuable production time and money here.
The products include new formulas and have been formulated from the new base inks that can be coated in the print production process and are more environmentally-friendly with no Barium and 65% vegetable-based content.
Pantone guides and books are produced using the highest manufacturing standards. In each edition, we ensure:
- Highly-regulated ink formula consistency
- Printed on the most popular commercial-grade 100 lb and 80 lb text weight stocks
- Carefully monitoring for imperfections during the production process
Image Disclaimer: Pantone recommends replacing guides and books every 12 months, as normal usage and exposure will render your colors inaccurate.
However, while we know you may like to hold onto them forever, the guides require replacing every 12 months, on average (depending on your usage case and storage habits) due to handling, fading, and aging, which cause the colors to appear inaccurate over time.
- Handling = smearing and removing pigment due to natural oils on fingertips
- Pages rubbing together = Scratching or removing pigment
- Light exposure = Fading
- Paper aging = Yellowing effects
- Ambient moisture = Accelerating paper aging
